Mission Statement:
We provide more than 40 comprehensive products and services to worldwide Navy and Marine Corps installations through delivery of acquisition, management and disposal of real property and lesser interests, such as demolition, sales and transfers, in-grants and out-grants, disposals and conveyances, other support to special legislation, cadastral, and appraisal support. NAVFAC Real Estate actions, projects, and services are generated from the Navy Shore Infrastructure.
NAVFAC Real Estate Directorate (RED):
RED is responsible for the acquisition, management, and disposal of real property for the Navy and Marine Corps, encompassing 14 Navy installations, 4 Marine Corps installations, 39 Naval Operating Support Centers (NOSCs) and 183 Marine Forces Reserve (MARFORRES) sites across the continental United States. The real estate community provides a full-line of real estate products and services in order to support Navy shore installations and the fleet.
RED is a functional community that executes actions in support of programs, such as Future Base Design, Agricultural Leasing, Timber Sales, Broadband and 5G Deployment, Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration (REPI), and Environmental Remediation. RED is comprised of a vast collaboration of professionals, ranging from Realty Specialists, Appraisers and Land Surveyors to Database Specialists, GIS experts, and Cartographers. Realty specialists complete all facets of the Real Estate program, including acquisition of real property, management of real property through in-grants and out-grants, and disposal of real property. Real property appraisers provide support to Realty Specialists by providing estimates of value for various interests in real property. These efforts support Real Estate actions and ensure compliance with applicable statutes. Cadastral personnel, including Land Surveyors and other systems specialists, provide support to the program by completing boundary surveys, updating Real Estate Summary Maps, interpreting historical data, and determining legislative jurisdiction on military installations to facilitate proper management of these vital assets.
