Mr. Jeffrey Killian

Mr. Killian enlisted in the United States Army on 13 May 1988 during the beginning of his third year of Army ROTC at North Carolina State University. He graduated in 1990 with a Bachelors’ degree in Industrial Engineering and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army. He attended Officer Infantry Basic Course and various other military schools while stationed at Fort Benning, GA.  After an Honorable Discharge in 1992, Mr. Killian finished his military career as an Infantry Officer in the North Carolina Army National Guard. During his military career he completed three tours in Iraq and Kuwait, across both Gulf Wars I and II. He is a graduate of the Combined Arms Staff School, Command General Staff College, and Joint National Defense School. During his career he served as a Ranger Platoon Leader, Scout Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, Bradley Task Force and HQ Company Commands, Battalion S-1, Battalion S-4, Brigade S-1, J-4 at USJFCOM, and finally as a Brigade S-3.  He retired in 2008 with 20-years.
 
Mr. Killian began working for the Department of the Navy in 1992 at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was hired as a shop Industrial Engineer but he quickly was diverted to waterfront pollution control. He was RIF’d in 1993, and immediately started work at PWC Norfolk as an Environmental Engineer. For the next 7-years he traveled around the world doing facility and housing environmental inspections and management plans. He has been to over 100 different Navy and Marine Corp Installations, many are now closed. From here he became a Facilities Commodity Manager for the Production Officer. He served on all the A-76 teams for PWC Norfolk and soon after took his first supervisory job as a Real Estate Supervisor at NAVFAC Atlantic. After a very short period, he returned to FEC MIDLANT as the Crane Director. He then became the BSVE Product Line Coordinator. He left NAVFAC MIDLANT in 2006 to become the Public Works Business Line Coordinator at NAVFAC SE. In 2014 he served as the SE Comptroller and in October of 2014 he became the Business Director for NAVFAC SE.
 
His personal military decorations include Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (2x), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal (5x), Army Achievement Medal (2x), Humanitarian Service Medal (5x), National Defense Service Medal (2x), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global Expeditionary Service Medal, Southeast Asia Service Medal, and the Kuwaiti Liberation Service Medal.
 
His Civilian awards include Engineer of the Year 1999, Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Medal 2002, NAVFAC Enterprise Innovator of the Year 2004, DoD Large Fleet Manager of the Year 2006, and Navy Recycling Program Manager of the Year 2004-2006
 
He has an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering, NC State; Masters in Environmental/Civil Engineering from Old Dominion University, and a MBA from the College of William & Mary.
 
Mr. Killian has been married for 24 years to his beautiful bride Julie. She is a retired microbiologist and currently is a 6th Grade Science and Math teacher.  They have two children, Sydney (18) and Ian (16).  He is an Upward Basketball Coach, Asst. Scout Leader, and recently retired Junior High and Travel Baseball Coach. Hobbies: Kayaking, Rock-Hounding, Golf, Shooting, Archery, Tennis, and Coaching.
