Capt. Andrew W. Olsen

Capt. Andrew W. Olsen, a native of Alexandria, Minn., graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He attended Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Fla, commissioned in November 2002, and attended Civil Engineer Corps Officers School Basic in Port Hueneme, Calif. He holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. 

  

Olsen’s operational tours include Officer in Charge Task Force Sierra Detachment 2 and Charlie Company Commander, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 4, Port Hueneme, Calif.; Operations Officer, NMCB 11, Gulfport, Miss; and Commanding Officer, NMCB 5, Port Hueneme. 

 

His shore assignments include Assistant Resident Officer in Charge of Construction, Keflavik, Iceland; Ranges Officer, Naval Special Warfare Group ONE Logistics Support Unit, Coronado, Calif.; Aide to the Commander, First Naval Construction Division, Norfolk, Va.; Facilities Engineering and Acquisition Division Director, Rota, Spain; Staff Civil Engineer, U.S. Seventh Fleet, Yokosuka, Japan; CEC Lt. Cmdr. Detailer, Navy Personnel Command, Millington, Tenn.; and Public Works Officer, Naval Base Ventura County, Calif. 

 

Olsen is currently serving as the Operations Officer, Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Europe, Africa, Central, Naples, Italy. 

 

He is a licensed Professional Civil Engineer in the State of Virginia, a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps, qualified Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist, and a Joint Professional Military Education Phase I credited officer. His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), and the 2014 Admiral Ben Moreell Medal.
