CDR Patrick Chitty is a native of Florence, Alabama. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University in December 2003. He was commissioned through Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida, in April 2004. He also earned a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama.
His operational tours include Convoy Security Element Officer in Charge (OIC) and Detachment OIC, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) SEVEN, Gulfport, MS; Strategy and Plans Officer, THIRTIETH Naval Construction Regiment, Port Hueneme, CA; and Operations Officer, NMCB ONE THREE-THREE, Gulfport, MS.
His shore assignments include Assistant Resident Officer in Charge of Construction (AROICC), Marine Corps Base (MCB) Camp Lejeune, NC; Aide to Commander, Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Atlantic, Norfolk, VA; Assistant Public Works Officer, Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, VA Beach, VA; Production Officer and Assistant Operations Officer, NAVFAC Europe-Africa-Central, Naples, Italy; Operations Officer and then Executive Officer, Officer in Charge of Construction Florence, MCB Camp Lejeune, NC., and Commanding Officer, Naval Construction Training Center Port Hueneme, California.
Chitty assumed the duties of NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic Operations Officer in July 2025.
He is a qualified Seabee Combat Warfare Officer, registered Professional Engineer in the State of Virginia, Acquisition Professional Member, and Public Works Department Level III qualified. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (five awards), Army Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
