Command Master Chief (CMC) Joseph Hampton is a native of Chicago, Illinois, and enlisted in the United States Navy in August 1993. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, San Diego, California he reported to Equipment Operator “A” school, Port Hueneme, California, where he completed apprenticeship training.
Upon graduation, he reported for duty with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 40 where he was assigned to ALFA Company. His fleet assignments include, NMCB 3, Port Hueneme, NMCB 5, and NMCB 4, Port Hueneme. In addition, Hampton completed shore assignments at Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu, Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes and as a Detailer at Navy Personnel Command, Millington.
Hampton holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, Human Resource Management from Grantham University and is a graduate of the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 180 Brown and COB/CMC Course.
His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
