Cmdr. J.D. Patton

Commander Patton is a native of Columbiana, Ohio. He graduated from Case Western Reserve University in 2004 where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering before receiving his commission through Officer Candidate School later that same year. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from California State University Northridge and has completed the Command and Staff Program/Joint Professional Military Education Level I through the U.S. Naval War College and Expeditionary Warfare School through Marine Corps University.

His previous operational assignments include Assistant Company Commander, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FORTY, where he deployed to Okinawa in support of U.S. Pacific Command objectives in 2005, to the U.S. Gulf Coast in support of Joint Task Force Katrina and humanitarian assistance/disaster recovery operations in Gulfport, Mississippi, and New Orleans, Louisiana, in 2005, and to the US Central Command area of operational responsibility as the water well detail Officer in Charge in 2006 as part of the Global War on Terror; Assistant Operations Officer for 8th Engineer Support Battalion, deploying as the G3 Engineer Officer for 2D Marine Logistics Group Forward in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2007-2008 and with the battalion staff as part of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2009; Operations Officer for THIRTY-FIRST Seabee Readiness Group; Assistant Operations Officer for Naval Construction Group ONE/THIRTIETH Naval Construction Regiment; Training Officer for Naval Construction Group ONE; and Plans and Requirements Officer for Naval Construction Group ONE.

His shore assignments include Project Engineer for Officer in Charge of Construction Marine Corps Installations East at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, NC; Public Works Officer and Facilities Engineering and Acquisition Division Director for Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, CA; Director of the Facilities Acquisition and Management Division at the U. S. Naval Civil Engineer Corps Officers School in Port Hueneme, California; and Operations Officer for the Officer in Charge of Construction Florence in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

He is currently assigned as the Executive Officer for the Officer in Charge of Construction Florence in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

CDR Patton is a Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist and Fleet Marine Forces Qualified Officer. He is a Professional Engineer in the State of North Carolina, a Construction Manager-in-Training, and a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps. His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards); Navy Commendation Medal (four awards); Navy Achievement Medal (two awards); and various unit and campaign awards.
